Camp Gan Israel was founded
half a century ago by the
Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi
Menachem M. Schneerson.
The Rebbe envisioned a
warm, welcoming summer
camp that integrated learning
with fun a place where children
could enjoy sports and artistic activities while experiencing the richness and excitement of their Jewish heritage.
Today, CGI camps comprise the largest network of Jewish camps in the world; each summer, more than 128,000 children attend branches throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Russia, Israel, South Africa, and Australia. Camp Gan Israel has become known as a trendsetter with innovative ideas and creative programs.
CGI draws on the best aspects of the Gan Israel programs and adds fresh elements geared toward the needs of a new generation. Building on this strong foundation, we take Jewish summer camp to new heights.
Camp Gan Israel NY is the oldest and first of the CGI network, visited by the Lubavitcher Rebbe in 1956 and 1957.
