Branches cracked and leaves rustled as they stealthily advanced through the forest. Laser guns at the ready, the campers crept through the dense foliage of the Rebbe’s Forest, hoping to catch the other team by surprise. Far from a combat mission, this was an exciting activity that each bunk participated in today.

The second trip of Camp Gan Yisroel – NY began on Monday, as elegant coach buses conveyed both the new campers arriving and the campers heading home. A spirit of achdus was felt as all of the campers – from both months – took advantage of the few overlapping hours in camp to join in a grand general learning class. Later, it was orientation and unpacking for the new campers and new and exciting activities for all.

The atmosphere in the dining room was a mixture of joy and melancholy as the first trip of Camp Gan Yisroel – NY came to an end. Joy, as the winners of bunk, learning class, and sports competitions were announced, and the sadness of parting as campers wished their friends farewell.

After a very enthusiastic Shabbos campers of the Bar Mitzvah Division were treated to a salad bar and Melava Malka. They were encouraged to keep up in all the good work that they have been doing, and to strive for more.

The Rebbe taught us that during the “Nine Days” of increased mourning for the Beis
Hamikdosh, we should increase in simcha in ways that are allowed. Visiting camp to
help out with that was one of the Twins from France.
